Description

Overview:

This 12-session course is open to both new and experienced individuals who share a passion for ceramics. A master of his craft, Ken Turner will help guide students to take their work to the next level, learning new and more advanced techniques in hand building, wheel throwing, glaze applications, design, and surface treatment.

Weekly discussions and demonstrations will give insight into the critical aspects of ceramic artistry. This class will help students further develop their own aesthetic sense while delving into the aspects of fine pottery, such as form, balance, volume, surface texture, negative space, and color. Students will practice skills during class through individual and group instruction, as well as have access to the ceramics lab during weekend open-studio hours on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. There is no additional fee for students to attend this studio lab session.

COVID Vaccination Requirement & Safety:

At this time, DigiPen Inst. of Tech. requires all faculty, students, and staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including booster shots, in order to be allowed in the building. This policy is subject to change, however, DigiPen does not anticipate that this policy will change before May 2nd, 2022. In order to meet these standards, continuing education students must show proof that they are at least two weeks post their last vaccine by April 18, 2022 (i.e. two weeks post their second Pfizer/Moderna vaccination or two weeks post the single dose J&J vaccine, or 2 weeks post their booster shot). Two-weeks prior to the start of the course, continuing education students will be emailed a secure site to upload their proof of vaccination. No student will be allowed on site unless they have received confirmation from DigiPen that they are approved to come onto the campus.

Students with a note from their physician stating they cannot be vaccinated against COVID-19 for medical reasons or students approved for a religious exemption will be allowed on site. Students requesting an exemption need to apply to DigiPen Inst. of Tech. for approval by emailing [email protected]. Unvaccinated students without a valid medical or religious exemption will NOT be allowed on site – no exceptions.

When on the college campus, all faculty, students, and staff will be required to social distance, wear masks that fully cover the mouth/nose, and sanitize frequently. In order to reduce the spread of viruses in classes and other academic meetings, DigiPen is requiring the use of filter masks. Filter masks are most commonly described as N95, KN95, or KF94 masks. In indoor common areas, you are welcome to wear a surgical mask, whereas cloth masks and gaters are not allowed on campus currently.

Free filter masks are provided upon request at the front desk of the Main Campus.
