Art & Animation Studio

Overview:

Whether it is animation produced using stop motion techniques, traditional hand-drawn, or the latest 2D and 3D digital software, animation is about bringing artwork to life to tell a story. Students in this studio will have the opportunity to utilize different animation techniques to go through the basic production process to create projects both individually and in teams.

Students will need to have their own digital drawing tablet (eg. Wacom CTL400, Huion Inspiroy H640P) for this course.

Skills Explored: 

• Principles of timing and animation 
• The main stages of the animation production pipeline
• Different traditional and digital media used to create animation
  

Prerequisites: 

This studio course is ideal if you have prior experience working with 2D and/or 3D digital art tools to create game and animation artwork. 

Technical Requirements: 

Students must have access to a computer as well as additional hardware and software. Some programs or courses may indicate additional technology requirements, and not all programs are Mac compatible. 

• Broadband internet access with minimum 2 Mbps download/upload speed
• Display with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768.
• While it is not mandatory, it is recommended to have a second monitor connected to the computer to extend the desktop. This allows the student to more easily follow what the instructor is demonstrating while concurrently being able to see the software environment that the student is working within. 
• Web camera that is required for classroom management purposes
• Headset with microphone
• Three-button mouse
• Printer that can print from the computer being used for class
