Overview:
The DigiPen Game Development Academy is a challenging, multidisciplinary experience designed to teach students how to create video games using math, physics, computer science, art and animation, sound and music, and game design principles. Students are challenged to use higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills as they are guided through a variety of game projects. These projects require students to go beyond the academic concepts to see how they must be integrated to produce engaging experiences for players. The program culminates in a team-based project, where students will design and produce an original game. Prerequisite Algebra 1.
Game Development Academy students attend four blocks of classes that are taught in the morning and afternoon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each of the blocks is 2.5 hours and focuses on one of the following key topics – Game Programming, Applied Math, Game Art and Design, and Game Project. A lunch break runs from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Students will meet on-site on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and then will continue the afternoon session online, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Please note that this program spans two semesters and requires the student to be registered for both Fall and Spring semesters at the time of enrollment.
