Overview
Creature designers have the exciting opportunity to create characters whose body type, elements, and props contribute to the overall feel of a creature. This course teaches students how to design creatures, from the initial concept stage all the way to the modeling of a Marquette (a small sculpture of a character). Throughout this process, students will examine how design elements influence the nature of their creature and how they may create creatures that range from cute to monstrous. Students will learn the history of creature design, the creature design process, basic anatomy, and figure drawing concepts while sculpting, drawing, and painting creatures.
Mid-Winter Break will be February 21st-25th. Spring Break will be April 4th-8th. Classes will not occur during these breaks.
