Minecraft Modding

Overview

Learning to modify or "mod" Minecraft is an excellent way to introduce students to programming. While this course is an ideal next step for students who may have been introduced to programming via "drag and drop" environments, no prior coding experience is required. Using a project-based approach, students learn to apply basic programming concepts such as variables, conditionals, loops, and methods, which in turn can be used to create new item recipes, NPCs, and other creations only they can imagine! There are no prerequisites for this course, however, students will need to have their own Minecraft account. 

Mid-Winter Break will be February 21st-25th. Spring Break will be April 4th-8th. Classes will not occur during these breaks.

Computer Requirements:

Students must have access to a computer as well as additional hardware and software. Some programs or courses may indicate additional technology requirements, and not all programs are Mac compatible.

Windows PC or Mac computer
Display with minimum resolution of 1024 x 768
Broadband internet connection
Headset with microphone
Three-button mouse
Internet browser (eg. Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari)
