Description

Manga refers to the Japanese style of cartooning in graphic novels. If you love the art from shows like Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon, or Pokemon, this fun class will teach you the fundamentals of stylized proportions and character design, line quality, and all things Manga!

You will learn:

  • Historical and cultural context of manga
  • Basic foundations of mark making, color theory, composition, and other basic art elements.
  • Work in both color and the 5 value gray scale using a variety of shading techniques.

Prerequisites:

  • No prior knowledge or experience is required

This course includes:

  • All art supplies and tools needed for the course will be provided

Technical Requirements:

  • Windows PC or Mac computer
  • Display with minimum resolution of 1024 x 768.
  • Web camera
  • Headset with microphone
  • Three-button mouse
  • Broadband internet connection
  • Current, major internet browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari)

Orientation Session:

Please note that in order to ensure that students have their home computers set up correctly for the class, and to orientate students to learning in an online environment, there will be a 30-minute scheduled orientation session that will on the Saturday before the workshop is scheduled to start. Information about this will be sent to students by the instructor the week before the start of the workshop.
