Description

If you have had some experience with making video games and want to take your development skills to the next level, this studio course is the answer! The Game Development Studio experience is designed to help you grow from where you are and begins with the instructor assessing your knowledge and skills as well as discussing the game you have been thinking of making. The instructor will then develop an individualized learning plan that aligns with the requirements you will need to build your game. This studio course can also provide opportunities to work with other studio developers*.

Benefits of Studio format:

  • Emphasis on individual growth through personalized assessment and learning plan for each student
  • Instructor focus to ensure fluency with various game development concepts
  • Access to a variety of development environments
  • Engaging project work that is aligned with student interest
  • Opportunities to work with other students* on a game project
  • Given the individualized nature of the course, this studio is designed to be repeatable.

Tuition includes:

  • Course materials

Prerequisites:

  • Prior experience making video games using a 2D or 3D game engine such as Scratch or Unity is required.

DigiPen will discuss the option for students to work together on a game project but cannot guarantee that students will choose to do so. In such situations, students will be directed to work on their own projects.

Technical Requirements:

Students must have access to a computer as well as additional hardware and software. Some programs or courses may indicate additional technology requirements, and not all programs are Mac compatible.

  • Windows PC or Mac computer with web camera
  • Display with minimum resolution of 1024 x 768. While it is not mandatory, it is recommended to have a second monitor connected to the computer to extend the desktop.
