Exploring Art Foundations

In this class, each art project will be centered around important art fundamentals that students will be able to use for a lifetime of artistic creativity and enjoyment.  These art fundamentals will include line, shape, value, perspective, texture, color theory, focal point, composition and more.  Students will be using a variety of art media including pencil, ink, acrylic paint, pastels, watercolor paint, and clay. 

You will learn:

• To draw with clean lines, using different line weight
• A variety of shading techniques
• Vanishing points and how to draw a landscape using 1-point perspective.
• How to use a color wheel, mix secondary and tertiary colors and learn basic color theory
• How to paint with both opaque acrylics and transparent watercolors and learn to make tints and shades with both
• How to create three-dimensional art with clay
