Video game level designers get to create the layout and flow of the levels that make up a complete game. This workshop teaches you the process of designing levels using a variety of digital game platforms, from initial prototyping to production to final polish. Through this process, you will create structured level arcs with an easy-to-understand setup segment, an interesting hook segment, a development segment with rising tension, an exciting turn segment, and a satisfying resolution segment.

You will learn:

  • A solid production process for designing game levels.
  • How to structure the arc of a level so that is exciting and fun.
  • How to use repetition and variation to build anticipation.
  • The psychology behind player learning and engagement.

  • Lunch and snacks
  • Course materials

  • No previous skills or experience is required.
