Description

Game system designers get to create the abilities, actions, and rules that define how players interact with the game and with each other. This workshop teaches you the process of designing the core systems of a game, from initial prototyping to production to final polish. Through this process, you will create game systems that are consistent and coherent, resulting in an engaging rhythm of gameplay, while being easy to learn and fun to master.

You will learn:

  • A solid production process for designing game systems
    • How to make individual abilities, actions, and rules coherent with each other
    • How to create a feeling of flow through rhythmic use of abilities
    • The psychology behind player learning and engagement
